Short Dig Programs

Our short programs, which range from half a day to three days, are a great opportunity to get your future paleontologist's feet wet. All these programs build off one another, so the longer you stay the more you learn! There is no age minimum (or maximum) but please make sure that the program you are looking at is the right fit. All these programs are great for adults with an interest in paleontology too! These programs are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and group size is limited to about 10 people per day.

Half-Day Program*

Great for families with young kids. This program teaches you the basics; fossil identification, surface mapping, and field search. You will also learn about the local and geologic history on your way to our various field sites. Programs available in the morning and afternoon.

*This is a site tour only and does not involve any digging, although you will see plenty of dinosaur bones! We simply do not have the time to effectively train visitors in 3 hours to dig without damaging the fossils. For digging experience, try the 1-Day Program!

1-Day Program

Have a future paleontologist in the family? Ever wanted to re-enact the opening scene of Jurassic Park? Come out on a dig with us and show him/her what a day in the life of a paleontologist is like. In the morning you will learn the basics - fossil identification, surface mapping, and field search - at our inactive sites before traveling to our active dig site in the afternoon. Here you will participate in our dinosaur dig, which could mean anything from rock removal to bone extraction. Lunch provided.

2-Day and 3 Day Programs

$360/person for 2 days, $510/person for 3 days

If you're looking for a little more variety, consider a multi-day program. These programs can be greatly varied, with opportunities for field excavation, fossil preparation in the lab, searching for dinosaur trackways, and much more. Lunch provided.
