About Our Long Dinosaur Dig Programs
We have two dinosaurs that we need to collect this summer near the Canadian border in the Judith River Formation, home to dinosaurs like Leonardo the Brachylophosaurus and Medusaceratops.
We have a primitive campsite near the dig site. We provide tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, pillows, and cots. We provide all the meals while you're out with us: 6 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 6 dinners. Plus snacks! There is an opportunity to stop at an Albertson's grocery store on our way out to the site to grab yourself extra food and incidentals.
All you need to worry about is bringing clothes, toiletries, special snacks, camping gear (if you're bringing your own), and small, miscellaneous equipment like a headlamp, sunglasses, camera, or a journal, etc.
Due to the size and nature of the dig sites, we are limiting the total group size to 6 people per week and you must be 13 or older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Day 1: One vehicle will pick people flying in at Great Falls International Airport by 2 pm, and the other will meet those driving in at the Dinosaur Center in Bynum by 2 pm (you can leave your vehicles at the museum). Both vehicles will rendezvous in Shelby and make a quick run to the grocery store for any last-minute supplies and snacks around 4 pm, then head to the site to put up camp and make dinner. After dinner, we will discuss safety, goals, and procedures for the week.
Days 2-6: Dig!
Day 7: Everyone will help pack up camp in the morning and then we'll head out around 10 am (may vary depending on individual flight departure times). Again, one vehicle will be going to Great Falls and the other back to the Dinosaur Center.
$2,400 per person for one week. There is a 10% Family/Group discount available for groups of 4 or more. Due to the limited space and availability of these dinosaur dig programs, a deposit of half the cost of the program is required at the time of reservation.
The dinosaurs dug on these expeditions are being scientifically collected for the purpose of research and display within our own museum.
The Two Medicine Dinosaur Center is been built on the idea that fossils belong to the people and should be kept in public hands, at all stages of the process.
If you are interested in joining a long dig program this summer, please fill in the form or call us at 800-238-6873 and we will let you know as soon as the 2020 dates are announced.
