Gift Shop Cashier
Position: Gift Shop Cashier
Length: May 1 - September 30, (dates are flexible), no more than 30 hours a week
Description: This is a part-time position. You will work the front desk of the gift shop and take in admission, ring gift shop purchases through the cash register, answer visitor questions about the museum and surrounding area, answer the phone, maintain the cleanliness of the museum gallery, gift shop, and public restrooms. Morning shifts are 8:30am-1:30pm and afternoon shifts are 1:30pm-6:30pm. Although not necessary, we strongly encourage applicants to have an interest in natural science, since you will be asked questions about the museum by visitors. Applicants must also have strong problem-solving skills. There will be times when none of the senior staff will be available and so you must be able to handle a situation by yourself or with very little assistance.
About Us: The Montana Dinosaur Center is small natural history museum located along the Rocky Mountain Front in Bynum, MT, one and a half hours south of Glacier National Park. We serve about 5,000 visitors a year between May and September, many of which are traveling between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. The thing that sets us apart from other museums in the state is that we offer public dig programs, in which we invite just regular people to dig with us. Our mission can be boiled down to “Education through Research” and so we try to include the public in as much of our operations as we can. Dig program participants help us in the field with exploration, excavation, and extraction, and in the lab with cleaning and piecing back together fossils, while museum visitors can directly observe lab activities through a large window.
